The success of our work depends on the positive impact we make at our partner schools, their students and the volunteers who travel with us.
From building classrooms and new toilet blocks to delivering menstrual health and food security programmes, the work delivered by African Adventures each year is broad, and here we take a look in more detail at what exactly has been achieved.
2022 Impact
2022 saw travel restrictions lifted after the Covid-19 pandemic and the return of our volunteer programme, bringing relief and excitement to everybody connected with African Adventures. Our volunteers were welcomed with open arms and completed much-needed development work, which, in some cases, had been agreed two years prior.
2023 Impact
2023 saw one of our biggest programmes to date, with groups travelling to Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar to pick up the baton from groups in 2022. There were some standout successes, including Derby County Community Trust’s 10th trip to Kenya and the completion of our pioneering WASH Programme in Zanzibar which impacted the lives of over 16,000 children.
2024 Impact
In 2024, our efforts focused on addressing critical challenges in education, food security, water, and sanitation hygiene (WASH), and menstrual health management. Throughour partnerships with local schools and communities, we have been able to provide essential resources, improve infrastructure, and empower individuals to build brighter futures.

Thank you to all those who have been part of this special year
“It’s not just the big programmes that make me so proud of our work; it’s the individual stories our partner schools and volunteers tell us about too. From the kind gestures to the new friendships, it’s the small things that happen organically on our trips that make them such life-changing experiences.”
Dan Mew, African Adventures Founder.

Ghana
“I am so proud to be part of the Foundations work, especially our hygiene and WASH projects across our 11 partner schools. Something as simple as a toilet makes a huge difference to reducing infections and spread of diseases. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who support African Adventures Foundation charity, as without you we cannot support our schools which really need it. I remain excited about the current ongoing projects such as Little Roses school classroom and WASH projects, and Tegbi EP Library, WASH and security projects, as well as Dziedzorve school WASH projects, which we continue to seek support for on behalf of our amazing partner schools.”
Siva Vordzorgbe – Programme Director, Ghana.

Kenya
“I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the entire team at African Adventures Foundation for their incredible work throughout 2024. This year, the foundation successfully repaired and upgraded a total of 17 classrooms across The Walk Centre, Jubilee Academy, Ungana, St. Trizah and West End schools. These improvements have greatly enhanced the learning environment for 1,110 students.
Additionally, the foundation installed four new water tanks at The Walk Centre, Ungana, St. Trizah, and Cherish schools, providing a reliable water supply to 1,213 students. I truly appreciate these efforts and look forward to seeing even more impactful projects implemented in our partner schools in 2025, benefiting even more students.”
Alex Muhoro, Programme Director, Kenya.

Zanzibar
African Adventure Foundation did phenomenal work in different schools in Zanzibar by repairing classrooms. This includes installing a new floor, painting, installation of windows in classrooms, putting new ceilings in classrooms- which reduces the heat in classrooms and many more work in 2024. This has led to an advancement of students’ performance and their well-being at school. Thank you, African Adventure Foundation!
Silus Mbize, Foundation Coordinator, Zanzibar.
